Aviation safety: ‘Flying blind’
Can we rely upon what we believe we see? What about the images within our visual field that our minds fail to identify? What dangers do these pose? We will examine the human brain (hardware) and the human mind (software) as they relate to our visual system. This can be a function of our “hardware” and/or “software”. But in all cases, this blindness must be understood so that we may incorporate techniques to improve our visual performance. This presentation is valuable to everyone in aviation…but perhaps most relevant to pilots, technicians, and safety officers.
